There’s always something new making waves in the aesthetic industry, and lately, “glass skin” and the hydrating injectable Skinvive™ have caught everyone’s attention! But what sets Skinvive apart from dermal fillers, and why is it causing such a stir? The expert injectors at Mountain Radiance are here to give you the inside scoop on the newest game-changer in facial rejuvenation.
New injectable, who dis?
Skinvive is the newest addition to the Juvéderm® collection, but Skinvive is different because it is not a dermal filler. Skinvive is FDA-approved to treat the cheeks and specially designed to enhance natural skin hydration to smooth and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance.
Skinvive shares some similarities with Juvéderm fillers—both are formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA)—and because HA has a knack for attracting and maintaining moisture, Skinvive injections help hydrate your skin, giving you long-lasting, natural-looking improvement in skin texture and smoothness.
The “microdroplet” technique was popularized outside the U.S. and often associated with the coveted “glass skin” trend.
Skinvive’s unique injection technique
Skinvive uses an intradermal microdroplet injection technique. We place tiny drops of Skinvive’s hydrating gel right below the skin’s surface, and injection sites are scattered strategically across the treatment area. This technique is quite different from dermal fillers, which are typically placed using a small number of injection sites and usually a little deeper in the skin.
“Relaxing atmosphere and excellent service. Will definitely be back :)”

Your Skinvive treatment
We inject a 1mL syringe of Skinvive into each cheek using several injection sites spaced about 0.5-1 cm apart. We know that you’re thinking—more injections equals more painful pricks—but Skinvive contains lidocaine to reduce pain during the quick injections, and the thin needle only penetrates a few millimeters under the skin.
At our Asheville med spa, your well-being is our priority, and we would be happy to offer additional pain management if needed to ensure you are comfortable throughout your treatment.
Skinvive treatment areas
The FDA has approved Skinvive to treat the cheek area; however, Skinvive’s ability to reveal a natural skin glow can potentially benefit other off-label areas as well.
Results you can enjoy with Skinvive
You may see mild improvements within days post-treatment, with full results visible once the hydrating gel fully integrates with your skin—about 3-4 weeks for most patients. Good things come to those who wait; the same is true after a microdroplet filler treatment! Skinvive’s effects are long-lasting, and most patients see pleasing results for up to 6-9 months.
