Advanced, no-downtime Nd:YAG laser treatment

Spider Vein Treatment in Asheville

Visible spider veins on your face or body are frustrating, and there is no easy way to prevent them. They can be highly visible and a source of self-consciousness about your appearance, especially in certain clothing that reveals your legs, chest, or other areas.

When you are ready to eliminate your spider veins or very small varicose veins, our Asheville medical spa offers efficient and effective Nd:YAG laser treatment in our South Asheville office.

What kind of veins and vascular lesions can a laser treat?

Our laser can minimize the appearance of spider veins, broken capillaries, or very small varicose veins. It can also improve the appearance of rosacea and redness. This laser can be used safely in a number of areas throughout the face and body, and is most commonly used to treat leg veins and facial veins.

What to expect from spider vein treatment

To begin your laser treatment, we will equip you with protective goggles before running the laser over your skin. Some patients say that the laser feels like a very fine needle. While the sensation is slightly different for each individual, most patients find the discomfort tolerable.

Downtime and results

The laser light passes through your outer layer of skin without harming it, solely targeting the red or purple pigmented blood vessel below. For this reason, most patients require little-to-no downtime after treatment, but you should protect treated skin from the sun, since it will be more vulnerable to sun damage than usual.

Results may appear instantly for very small veins, but larger veins may take several months to fade. Repeat treatments are often necessary for a satisfactory result, especially with larger veins.

Laser treatment is the least invasive option for reducing veins’ appearance. While larger varicose veins may require sclerotherapy injections, laser treatment is a highly effective therapy for very small veins. If you are unsure whether or not you are a good candidate for laser treatment, we are happy to see you in our office and advise you on the treatment plan we believe will best reach your goals.

Our Nd:YAG laser for vein reduction

At Mountain Radiance, we use the top-of-the-line Multi-Spot™ Nd:YAG laser from Lumenis. This is a highly precise laser that is safe for all skin types. This laser’s Multiple Sequential Pulsing allows cooling between pulses to reduce the risk of skin damage during your treatment. At the same time, a series of sub-pulses enables deeper penetration and an overall longer pulse duration, which is crucial for achieving noteworthy results. The laser also employs SapphireCool™ technology to provide continuous contact cooling to keep you comfortable as the laser passes over your skin.

How much does spider vein treatment cost?

Laser treatment for spider veins typically ranges between $100-400 depending on the size of the area and length of time needed to treat it. Keep in mind that, depending on the severity of your spider veins, follow-up treatments may be required for a satisfactory result. During your free consultation, one of our experienced laser technicians will examine your skin to determine whether you are a good candidate for laser treatment, as well as go over our treatment recommendations and provide a quote for services before beginning your first sessionCertain patients may require more than one session—the average needed is 3 treatments for optimal results.

How long does spider vein removal last?

The results of your spider vein treatment will be very long-lasting, and it is unlikely for them to return after treatment. However, new spider veins may form over time. You can address some of the causes of spider veins—sun exposure and poor circulation—to prevent new spider veins from forming. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, cover up with clothing, and lather on a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30 daily. To improve circulation, many doctors recommend supportive compression stockings, exercise, elevating your legs, and taking breaks every 30 minutes or so when you need to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
